The author writes, “…but this harm is more systemic, less personal, than the affront to individual dignity represented by racist insults in the post-industrial society.” This is a good quote which shows the systemic nature of racism, which is much more problematic than individual racism. Although the two are connected, individual racism if kept in the closet does not affect anyone else. Systemic racism, which is the result of unchecked personal racism, is the most oppresive aspect of racism.
