Karl Rahner’s theology about transitioning from a Western Church to a World Church is a very accurate one. The church is now engaging other cultures from a standpoiont of value, moving away from a “messiah complex” to one of engagement, will only bring enrichment to the Body of Christ. The move of the Church into the global south is giving rise to a new form of communal theology that the west lacks. This empowerment of the global south is similar if not identical to what would happen if the subaltern were invited to the discourse of society. In the case of the Church, I believe like Rahner, that the engagement with other cultures, by recognizing the finger prints of God in their cultures, and letting the Spirit enrich them, we will see the Church operating in a capacity that has not been seen since it’s birth.
